Employees are familiar with the fact that the University of Colorado offers employees online and in-person (classroom) training on job related topics ranging from Preventing Sexual Harassment, to HIPAA, and Fiscal Code of Ethics. Many of these courses are either mandatory for a specific position (e.g., Fiscal Code of Ethics) or mandatory for all employees (e.g., Preventing Sexual Harassment). What many employees don't know is that the University also provides access to thousands of online employee learning and development opportunities through SkillSoft.

Important Note: Access to SkillPort is provided ONLY through your log-in to your personal "MyCU Portal" page; the link is provided below. A link to a SkillPort Quick Start document is also provided to help you become familiar with the navigation through the system.

1. You will need to login, the box is in the upper left hand corner.

2. There is a drop down menu for "My Campus:", select the Denver campus.

3. There is a box for "Username" and a box for "Password". Your Username and Password are the same as what you use to login to your LAN (Local Area network); this is typically how you "unlock" your computer when you are away from your desk.

4. There are two radial buttons, select the radial button "Private Computer" and click Login. This will take you to “My.CU. Home”. Click on the “My. Training” tab on the top of the page. This will take you to your training page which is where you can see what training you have completed i.e. IT Security Training and Preventing Sexual Harassment online. This course was madatory for all employees so you should see them as completed courses. This is also where you can access SkillPort training. A link to the SkillPort Employee Online Learning resources is available to all staff, faculty, student employees and affiliates.

Click here for SkillPort - CU's Online Learning and this will take you to the SkillPort training page. SkillPort requires the installation of Java in order to utilize the courseware. If you are not connected right away chances are you do not have Java installed on your computer. There is a link you can click on to check. If you work in the Auraria Library and do not have Java, contact our IT Department by filling out a Bugzilla report.

You will get to the Search and Learn page, which you can then search. You will be able to find CU Learning Programs, Courses, Books, Instructor Led Training, Simulations, Express Guides, Mentoring, Test Prep Exams, SkillBriefs, and Job Aids. For example you type in Conflict Management and select a course that interests you; you will get an overview, the amount of time it will take to complete the course, SkillBriefs (handouts you can copy), and Job Aids.

My Summary – A summary of training course completions are tracked in the Peoplesoft Enterprise Learning module (HRMS) is included on the "Learning History". This means you will not have to keep track and it is very user friendly.

When you complete the courses you will get a list of training courses that you have completed on your training page, and if relevant, course quiz scores (grades). If you supervise employees it will also list what your folks have completed and scores. Please Note: the training summary does NOT include online courses for which someone is enrolled but has not completed the quiz.
